National Tire Safety Week – May 20-27
A campaign from the U.S. Tire Manufacturer’s Association (USTMA)
This week Trent’s Garage will be providing complimentary tire safety checks!!
Here are some things to check out on your tires including the spare (if you have one) before the busy vacation/travel season.
- Check the air pressure and verify they are inflated to the recommended pressure levels. This can normally be found on the driver’s side door jam. Summer heat can have a drastic effect on tire pressure.
- Check the tread depth of your tires. The simple penny test – if you see Lincoln’s head above the tread, then it is time for new tires.
- Check the overall condition of your tires. Look for…irregular/uneven wear, cuts, bruises, bulges, bald spots or other irregularities.
- Check the age of your tires. The date of manufacture is the last four digits of the DOT Number on the sidewall. The first two digits are the week and the last two digits are the year. Tires begin to lose their elasticity and strength as they age. We recommend replacing your tires once they are six years or older.
- Don’t overload your vehicle/tires! Check manufacturer specifications for your vehicle’s load-carrying capacity.
Schedule an appointment or stop by Trent’s Garage with any of your tire needs.
Happy Tire Safety Week!
